Blakinger is a Houston-based staff writer for The Marshall Project, a nonprofit newsroom focused on criminal justice. She previously covered prisons, prosecutors and death row for the Houston Chronicle, and her work has appeared in the Washington Post Magazine, VICE, The New York Times and NBC News. Blakinger was also part of the Chronicle’s Pulitzer Prize finalist team in 2017 for breaking news coverage of Hurricane Harvey.
