Frazier is a renowned heart surgeon and director of cardiovascular surgery research at the Texas Heart Institute. He has been recognized as a pioneer in the treatments of severe heart failure and heart transplantation, performing over 1,200 heart transplants and implanting 900 artificial devices. Frazier has specialized in total artificial heart implants and in 2011 implanted the first successful continuous-flow total artificial heart.
